Jurkowski and Williams motivate team to set new Goals!!!
Will Jurkowski (Class of 04) and Katie Williams were guest speakers at the team's practice on Monday. Will and Katie gave a few moments of their time....the North Salem Winter Track team gained the opportunity of a lifetime. Both of the speakers are tremendously decorated collegiate and post collegiate runners. What they provided for the team on Monday was as motivational as it was informational. Will spoke about his personal experiences which mirrored the team's core principles of respect, dedication and hardwork while providing goal setting tips. Katie spoke about her personal experiences which touched upon the joy of running and the benefits of training hard and developing confidence. We would like to thank both Will and Katie for coming to Monday's practice. Their words will be forever remembered by those who were in attendance.
Below please leave a comment stating your goal for the season as far as your event(s) are concerned. Please leave any general comments regarding what Will and Katie spoke about on Monday.

3200m-11:59
ReplyDeleteShot- My goal for the shot is to get second place on the all time school record list, which will consist of throwing over 38ft.
ReplyDeleteSprint- My goal for sprinting is to get at or below 8 seconds in the 55 meter dash.
I really liked what both Will and Katie said on Monday. They showed me how much hard work and dedication it is going to take to be a great athlete in track and field. I really liked the opportunity to have Will and Katie come to speak to us on Monday.
High Jump: My goal for High Jump is to jump 4'9", I was really close at the last meet so maybe when I achieve that goal maybe a even higher height.
ReplyDelete1 Mile- my goals for the mile this year are to get back from my injury and run a low 5 min mile, what Will and Kate had to say really made me think how much i really have to want what I am working for
ReplyDeleteMy goal in the mile is to run a 5:30 or better. This is a steep goal because my best time currently is a 5:45 so it will be tough to improve by 15 seconds. I found what Will and Kate said to be very valuable running advice. I was amazed when Will said he started running a 5 40 and ended up running a 4 12
ReplyDeleteIn the 3200 I would like to run under 12:40 by the end of the season. What will said about how he reacted to breaking 5:00 on the mile really helped me. I shouldn't think of running a mile in under 6:00 as some far away impossible thing, it can certainly happen, considering my 1 mile split in the 3200 was close to 6:00
ReplyDeleteMy goal for the 1000m is to run under 2:59. Although this is 7 seconds faster than my personal best, Will and Katie told us that setting high expectations for yourself is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteMy goal is to run the 300m under 52.00
ReplyDeleteMy goal it to run the 55m under 9.10
In the 55m I want to run a 7.70. It's about .3 off my current time, which is hard in a race this short, but I know I can hit it, and soon.
ReplyDeleteI also want to shorten my 200 split down to 26 and below seconds. It's not so far off and I think I can get it. Especially without someone right in front of me like last time.
My goal for this year is too get around 11 minutes on the 3000m. I know that it is a hugh goal to think about but when I set a goal to break the girls 1500m record I also had to shave a lot of time off my 1500m time and I had to work really hard for it but i eventually achieved my goal. Will and Katie explained that if you dont have a big goal then you wont push yourself to achieve it .
ReplyDeleteMy goal for the 300m this year is to break 45 seconds.
ReplyDeleteFor the 4x200 relay I would really like to break 2 min because thats what we've been stuck at for the past 2 years. To do this I want to try to run the 200m in under 28 seconds.
My goal for the end of the season is to get under a 12:40 3200 and a 6:30 1600. I like what Katie and Will said about setting goals for yourself that may seem unattainable, and that you have to work hard to get there.
ReplyDeleteMy goal for this winter season is to come close to the 4x200 meter relay time and improve my 55 meter time to at least a 7.1. What Will and Katie had to say inspired me to set higher and better goals for myself.
ReplyDeleteI would like to run under a 2:30 for my split in the 4 by 800 and under a 1:40 for the 600. From Will and Katie, I learned that I need to set hard goals for myself in order to do the best I can.
ReplyDeleteMy goal for the 1000m run is 2:35.0. This would in fact break the record of the legend, Will Jurkowski. It seems like an arduous task, but if I work hard and give 100% every practice, my chances to set this new record will increase. Additionally, I would like to be sub-2:10 for the 800m split in the 4x800. What Will and Katie discussed will certainly improve my running ability.
ReplyDeleteFor the 600 meters. I would like to run around a 1:28
ReplyDeleteFor my 800 meter split on the 4x800 relay, I would be happy with anything under 2:10.
My goal for the 1600 is to run under a 5:30 by the end of the season.
ReplyDeleteAlso I would like to thank Will and Katie for their time. what they said really meant a lot to me, especially being a first year on any track team. I know that I have to work hard and im willing to do anything to get better.
My Goal for the mile is to dorp to a 5.30 mile time. In the 4 by 4 relay, i want to drop to a 55 second split.
ReplyDeleteMy goal for the 1 mile is to run a 5:20.
ReplyDeleteMy goal for the season is to run a sub 5:20 1600m and if I can exceed this I will try to run 5:15 or faster. My goal for the 4x400m is to run a 400m in 62 seconds or lower.
ReplyDeleteKaitlyn Cocuzzo
ReplyDeleteMy goal is to get my 1500m time down to 7:10 by the end of the season. That will be down about 9.5 seconds from right now.
My best time to date is 7:21.55 for the 1500 m. This personal best was achieved last meet. My goal for this season is to improve my time t0 7:15 which will be an improvement of about 6.5 seconds.
ReplyDeleteMy goal for the 300m is to get under 50 second and my goal for the 55m is under 0.8.45
ReplyDeleteI want to improve my time every meet in the mile. I learned from Will and Katie that if set your goals high and work hard can do well in anything. -Kevin Sheehy
ReplyDeleteMy goal for the 1600m is to get below 5:50
ReplyDeleteALex V
ReplyDeleteI want to get under a 6:30 on the 1600m
My goal for the 1000 m. is 3:45. I've never ran this event before, so im not sure what my time will be.
ReplyDeleteWill and Katie inspired me by saying that we can make up for what we lack in ability with hardwork. Not being one of the stronger runners on the team this inspired me!
ReplyDeleteWork hard until my legs break. The seconds should fall off with hard work, won't limit myself with a goal
ReplyDeleteFor the 1600 m, my goal is to run under 5:00 by the end of the season. If I continue to run the 4x800 m relay, I hope to get down to 2:20. If I switch back to the 3200 m, I hope to run under 12:00 by the end of the season.
ReplyDeleteMile goal for the mile this year is to run a 4:50 mile or faster and for the 2 mile i would like to run a 10:20 or better
ReplyDeleteOur guest Will and Katie gave great talk and made me want to set a high goal and shot to beat that high goal. It also gave me a inside to what college running may be like.
hey this is couri still no luck on acheving my blogger name how ever my goal fo shot put is to throw around 33 feet by the end of this season and my goal for the 55 is to sprint a 8.15 or faster.
ReplyDeletewhen i was listening to will and katie i took alot out of it but the two things that stuck to me was how much dedication they put into running and they taught me how to balence out school work and sports during college which is important to me becasue i want to play a college sport when im in college!
My goal is to get a 24 second 200 meter time and 18 feet in the long jump. When i was listening to will and kaitie was hard work can get u wherever you want.
ReplyDeleteMy goal is to run under 4:50 in the mile by the end of my sophmore year and to run a 60 flat in the 400.
ReplyDeleteMy goal for my final season is to break 5:40 in the mile, and to throw 30 feet in the shot.
ReplyDeleteWhen Will and Katie came to speak to us, I really liked how they were both so determined to continue to run even after their college careers were long over.
I would run the mile in under 6:40 and throw the shot 25 ft.
ReplyDeletemy goal in long jump is to jump 12' 5" and in the 55 is 8.8
ReplyDeleteI learned that if you just set your mind to what you want to achieve that you can run or do whatever you want for a career. my goal is to try and run 6.8 55 meter this season as well as to stay healthy the remainder of the year.
